With more than 45% of the world’s population vaccinated against Covid-19, people are slowly returning to their daily activities. Among those activities is traveling on vacation, which is very beneficial for those who are tired of the confinement. Tourism figures in multiple parts of the world have increased significantly over the past year, compared to the previous year.
The United States had a 7% increase in domestic tourists during the year 2021. Places known for their great tourist attraction, such as Florida, had a 0. 3% increase in foreign tourists during the last quarter of the year, compared to the same period in 2019.
In this season, people living in the north of the country, especially the elderly, travel to cities in the south to enjoy the heat and get away from the cold of their homes. But the locals are not the only ones looking for that hot climate in the south of the country, especially Florida. There have been increases in visitors from Europe and South America, especially during the holiday season.
Speaking of Florida, specifically Orlando, Christmas and New Year’s bookings there reflect 95% of the bookings that were made for the same dates, but in 2019. Casandra Matej, President and CEO of Visit Orlando predicts that the holidays will be a strong period for Orlando. He adds that the reserves for the first two months of 2022 are three times as high as last year’s reserves.
This appeal of Orlando is further enhanced by the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Disney World, which is one of the most appealing places for tourists visiting Florida. For this celebration, Disney has announced the opening of new attractions for the coming year.
Across Florida, bookings and rentals for temporary or vacation homes through the end of the year have increased 42% compared to the same period in 2019. This involves a lot of domestic and international tourist traffic throughout Florida and probably in places surrounding that state.
On the other hand, it is estimated that 50 new hotels will open in Florida, which will make the state able to receive many more tourists next year.
Owners of rental or holiday homes have had and will have an increase in their passive income during the remainder of 2021. However, it is estimated that the increase in profits from rental properties will be even greater over the coming year. This is the time to fulfill that dream of owning a property in the best areas of Florida and making the most of it during the coming year.
